Heavy machinery and bulldozers are becoming more prevalent in and around the Sharks Leagues Club precinct, which can only mean construction of the Woolooware Bay development and the upgrades and changes to Captain Cook drive are continuing to forge ahead.
The eastern entrance to PointsBet Stadium has become enveloped into the road works and planned construction, while the increasing groundworks in the car park area are an indication that this exciting project is making good time as per the schedule, moving forward and becoming a reality.
Further to the above, I should inform of night road works on Captain Cook Drive starting at 10.30pm from October 28-31, with traffic control and some disruptions associated. We apologise for the potential inconvenience.
All that being said, the Sharks Leagues Club will continue to trade on those nights and through until December, with bars, gaming and the bistro fully operational up until the Club closure just prior to Christmas.
Drop in and have that last drink or another meal before the ‘old girl’ receives her massive makeover ahead of the Club reopening in 2021.
Otherwise as I revealed previously, we are in discussions with Sporties Kareela surrounding a Club amalgamation, with that process moving along positively. Should all go as planned we hope to have something to announce and a new home for the Sharks confirmed soon.
As for our football staff, including commercial, membership, media and community, they have been relocated into new offices as the Leagues Club shut down process continues, with many already in offices set up in the lower ET Stand.
For anyone needing to contact our team in any of those areas, it is business as usual as we look ahead to the 2020 season.
In relation to membership, we hope to launch our 2020 program and packages as early as next week, with options available to suit all as we do our best to accommodate and look after our members in our temporary home at Kogarah next year. We will also soon be in a position to announce another exciting new offering for our members, with the Bunker Bar nearing completion.
Located in the old members bar in the ET Stand, the revamped and refurbished Bunker Bar will be a home away from home for Sharks members, including food, drinks, big screens, entertainment and much more. A launch date and details will be coming soon.
On the development front, Woolooware Bay stage three is taking shape as it nears completion on the western side of the stadium, with new residents set to move in early next year and great apartments still available. As for the Club, Hotel, Shopping and residential precinct on the eastern side, anyone interested and seeking information on the stage four Bayview Apartments are encouraged to visit the display suite located next to NullaNulla in the Cronulla Mall.
And finally in relation to the football, other than those involved in the various rep teams, the boys are enjoying a well-earned break.
A number of our newcomers and young guns are due back on the training paddock in early November, the senior boys a little bit after that, with John Morris keen and excited to launch back into it and to get preparations for the 2020 season underway.
